Take Home Outfit

So, my Mom found the perfect "take home" outfits for our little boy or girl. Baseball, of course, if the baby is a boy. And Cherries, of course, if the baby is a girl. I can't wait to see our baby's cute little butt in one of these outfits! :) Thanks, Mom!

Snow is for looking, not living!!

Mt. Baldy from a freeway exit ramp

This is a strange dichotomy: massive freeway interchange and even more massive snow capped mountains.

Another view of the mountains from our neighborhood. Betsy took this one on a morning walk. Southern California winter days make for amazing views, especially after big rain.

Calvin Worship Symposium

About two weeks ago, two students, two colleagues and I flew out of LA to Grand Rapids and attended the Calvin Worship Symposium. This was an incredible experience. There were 1400 people there from 100 different countries. We spent considerable time with folks from other high schools that also plan weekly chapels. We were encouraged, challenged, energized and thoroughly exhausted after three days of conferencing. We also came back with lots of good ideas, and hope to be able to attend in coming years. Thanks to Mom and Dad for their generous hosting and hospitality!

The Bridge Bowl 2009

On January 25, our church hosted the first annual "Bridge Bowl", a flag football tournament featuring eight teams. The team captains were all from church, but were encouraged to invite non-attenders. At least half of the 80 plus participants were not from our church, so it was a great opportunity to get to know some new folks. Below are some action shots.

We lost this game....by one, and we attempted a two point conversion on the last play.
Our team captain, Nic, actually made wrist bands with pass patterns. We took it WAY too seriously.

Here's our team. Our general manager is working the free agent market.

This is us congratulating the Valley Christian guys after we held on to win.

It's great for a guy from Michigan to wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt on a Sunday afternoon in January. It was a perfect day and a big success. Our organizer, Nic, did a great job.
