A Trip to the Firehouse!

Jack was treated to a visit to the local firehouse with Grandpa D. and Daddy on Father's Day. I don't even need to say it, but HE LOVED IT!

He was allowed to push buttons and climb all over the truck... a little boy's heaven!

The craziest part was that as soon as Ben walked up, he recognized the fireman as our former neighbor in GR, David, who was in training when we lived here. We had no idea that he worked at that particular station or that he would happen to be there that day! What a very special treat to see an old friend!

He treated Jack so well! He even received a "Jr. Firefighter" badge. I think this picture is SO sweet. :)

What a fun outing for the boys on Daddy's Day!!!

A special shout out to our Dads, aka "Grandpa"... we LOVE you!

Summer So Far

We are having a blast spending time with family. Here are the pics to document the beginning of our trip:

Meeting aunts, uncles and cousins.

Spending a morning baking all sorts of goodies in the church kitchen.

Reading books...

...taking baths...

...swimming in the kiddie pool...

Jack wanted to empty the water out of the pool, but discovered that it was too heavy for him, so he said, "Eric do it."

... just livin' life together! It's the best!
{One undocumented activity that has taken up a LOT of our time is all things Justin Beiber... watching videos, singing songs, flicking hair out of our eyes, analyzing outfits and flashing dance moves! It is Beiber Fever around here!}

ps- I forgot to mention that we also made a trip to urgent care with Jack due to a fever and other (very yucky) symptoms. He has a double ear infection! He's on the mend now, thank to antibiotics. As you can see, it didn't slow us down much. :)

Memorial Day 2011

Our family has carried on Betsy's family tradition of attending the La Canada Memorial Day parade every year. This was the first year that Jack could understand more of what was going on, and it was fun to talk about the upcoming parade for several days and then point out all of the things we had talked about. He absolutely loved eating popcorn and candy, and also seeing the marching bands, horses, and fire trucks.

We have a similar picture of Jack at this same age as Arie, sleeping through the whole parade!

And we also enjoyed spending time with Aunt Millie and Uncle George... our very own war hero!

We always celebrate Betsy's Dad's birthday on Memorial Day, and Ben's too, because it's just 10 days earlier.

It was a gorgeous day in southern California and so much better because it was spent with family and good friends! What a great start to summer.
