Arie Turns One

It's a little hard to believe that a year has passed since that whirlwind of an early morning when Arie made his entrance into this world.  I found myself recounting the events of the day before he was born and the events of his birth as the one year anniversary came and went.
Arie has brought so much joy to our family in the last year.  He is sweet and cuddly, and silly, too.  He adores his brother, goes nuts for his mama, and is silly with his daddy.
He eats like a champ, and is in the 75% for both height and weight.  He sleeps extremely well (which is SUCH a blessing!).  He has four teeth (two on top, two on bottom), with a couple more on their way on top.  He cruises along furniture and can pull himself up onto a few pieces (which he has also fallen off of before we can get to him, poor buddy!).  He says mama, dada, uh-oh, and ball.  He likes to "sing" and groove to music.
We had fun planning a little party for our buddy.  We went with a nautical theme, and I had fun staying up late to work on crafty Pinterest-inspired decorations.  Here are some shots from Arie's big day!

Our niece Emma decorated the fruit pizza for me... like her blueberry sailboat? :)
I made Arie's name in semaphore (signal) flags, and lots of pendant banners.

We got some sweet shots of us with our baby boy...

But I just had to include the one below... this boy LOVES his thumb!!!
And I had to include this funny out take, too. :)
I couldn't pick my favorite family pic, so I'm putting them both.

Arie wanted to touch the burning candle, so we quickly blew it out for him.
He was very hesitant about the cupcake until I gave him a taste of the frosting with my finger.  Then he quickly dug in.

 "Hey, you gotta try this!"

We had a great time celebrating Arie boy.  We are so excited to have the privilege of seeing what God has in store for the rest of Arie's life.
